QUICK TIP: The Beauty of Nail Polish

By Khanh-Van Le-Bucklin, MD, FAAP, MOM

Use nail polish to help tell your twins apart. Assign a color to each baby and paint their toenails their assigned color. So you don't forget who was assigned which color, simply label the polish bottles with their names.

The great thing about nail polish is that it can last several weeks on babies without washing off. Plus, they come in so many colors, you can have some fun with them. I recommend painting toenails instead of fingernails since babies often like to suck their fingers. You don't have to paint all the toenails if you don't want to. Painting just one toenail will do just fine.

We have identical twins and in the first weeks of life, nail polish helped set us straight on who was who many times!
